4x4 shift issues

I am acquiring an 08 gmc 1500. It currently is having a transfer case issue with shifting. I was able to clear the codes a couple times and make it shift. Currently in key on it sets code C0306-05 in the transfer case control module and it resets every time the key is cycled. Sometimes I can get it to shift if I reset the codes and don’t cycle the key. Looking to find out what direction to go in. Using an autel MD806 scan tool for my diagnostics.
