Making a LQ4 swapped '94 GMC K1500 A manual.

Recommended Posts

So I recently bought a '94 K1500 and am in the process of LQ4 swapping it. The truck I got the engine from had a bad transmission and I was wondering if there is any good manual transmission to be recommended. (money is a factor so looking for used option)

You could use a NV3500 but it's not exactly the performance based transmission. The NV4500 is much larger and might require some body surgery.

Other options are a T56 but with the weight of the truck I know some will like to upgrade some of the internals so it's more stout.

Or just have the 4L80e rebuilt if you keep it automatic. I also have no idea what you'd have to do with output shaft stuff to make the 4X4 work with the NV transmissions or a T56.
