Gutting your cat

Just wonderin if anyone has gutted their catalytic converters? Im thinkin that there might be to much backpressure using the y setup into a single muffler. And, i dont want to go true duals mainly b/c of the money just yet. Was thinkin maybe if you gutted your catalytic verters and put a free flowin muffler on there, the y setup might not be to badly clogged up. I didn't wanna take the cats completely off b/c of the o2 sims. would guttin them cause any problems either? well,

any feed back would be appreciated about this topic

thanks guys

Ummm i dont exactly think that is a good idea. I have heard a few trucks that have had them gutted and it sounds like absolute $hit. It has a nasty hollow noise and makes your truck louder than it was originally with that nasty noise. i wouldnt reccommend it but thats just my .02. id recommend buyin a high flow cat.

I would not recommend it unless you have some major power adder. I noticed a loss in low end torque after cleaning mine out with my supercharged application & I would hate to see how a n/a truck would react. My truck actually runs worse in by-pass mode but in supercharged mode it screams.
