my friend has a fancy mercedes suv (6cyl), chrome wheels, and the works. anyways, for a good long while, hes been tellin me how american cars are slow and have no power, and that his big mercedes would tear up tahoe. btw, its a 2000 tahoe, all stock, 5.3, and 3.42 locker rear. so after work, we were at a light on a rural road, so we went. on a full tank of gas w/ stuff in the back, i took off and it almost looked like he wasnt even goin. at around 75 m.p.h. i let off, and he was at least 7-10 car lengths back. and at the next light, i went up to 60 and still tore him up. im still lisenin to the excuses that hes tellin me

in conclusion..... dont fear the 6 cylinder mercedes suv

stupid...........I can't believe these panzy German car owners who know nothing about cars and assume theirs is the best because it has some ridiculus/fancy badge.

and its a 6?!?!?! 6-cyl N/A mercedies are weeeeeeeeeak. they have to put forced induction on every engine they make to get any power out of it.

Any benz 320 is slow. especially that ugly minivan looking excuse for an suv the ML320. Who in their right mind would think a sorry ass V6 truck would take on a 285 HP V8 truck. too many people underestimate gm truck performance. But slowly they will learn.

Well I just traded in my '03 Sierra Denali for a '04 ML500. The denali had a westers 93 octane pcm. The stock ML500 will bust its ass. They are almost as fast as an ML55 AMG, which is why I bought one. Cheaper (relatively speaking) tires and parts, and pretty fast too. As for the comments on mercedes drivers being stupid, admittedly some are. Many of them don't know a thing about cars but they do know a good product. Many of them are highly educated self made people who don't have time to worry about a car. Its my job to worry about it for them. I invite anyone who is interested to do a little more research. Don't compare apples to oranges. The new E55 AMG will take out a corvette and it is a 4 door sedan. Comparing GM's fastest SUV with Mercedes slowest is not a fair comparison. Comparing the fastest 2 currently in production is. That would be a 5.3 liter 2wd tahoe vs an ML500.

Want something to get your blood boiling? Do a search on the soon to be released CL65 AMG. It is an incredible car, although it costs as much as 4 of your best chevys.

The E55 is an awesome vehicle, no doubt. I thought my big brother's M5 was fast until I saw the numbers the E55 is producing.

Totally different automobiles! We should be comparing the E55 to the M5 or the RS6, not the Vette. However, the E55 can take all of them. The Vette needs to be compared to the Ferrari 360, BMW Z8 and 996. It may not win in performance, but it does win in value

But I would take the E55 over the current Z06. For now, the E55 is an ultimate sleeper sedan, and I like to fly under the radar when it comes to performance.

Isn't AMG an aftermarket upgrade and the numbers posted for the Z06 is stock. Are we really comparing apples to apples? Maybe if you compared AMG to Lingenfelter. If that was the comparison, I would probably take the vette, even though the Benz is sweet.

Mercedes-AMG is the tuning division of Mercedes. These are production vehicles - not aftermarket. No we're not comparing apples to apples with the E55 and Z06, but they are both production models from each Mfg's high performance department.

BMW's M series is production, too

Lingenfelter is aftermarket and BMW's Dinan is aftermarket

i tend to disagree with that b/c i feel that the chevy being a full size suv (heavier and bigger) counters having the bigger motor. also the tahoe is not gms fastest suv, i belive the escalade is alittle faster with the 6.0 and the buick raineer w/ the 5.3 as well.

as to the other guys comparing the e55 to a vette, i think the cts-v from cadillac is a very fair comparison. and if it were up to me, i would take the the 25 grand you would save on the cts, for gas money
