I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3L. I took it to the store and while I was stopped at a red light, the truck began to shake but RPMs didn't noticeably drop. I switched to neutral and nothing changed. The light turned green so I switched back to drive and then pushed on the gas pedal and nothing happened - RPMs didn't go up at all and I just started rolling. Then all of a sudden power would kick back in and lurch the truck forward - screeching the tires in the process.

It kept lurching so I stopped in a parking lot and turned it off. Turned the engine back on after 5 minutes and it idled fine in park. Drove it out of the parking lot back home and hit a red light.. then it started doing it again and the truck completely stalled. Managed to turn the truck back on and limp it back home lurching along the way and then check engine light came on with P0157 permanent code and P0137 and P0300 pending codes.

Any ideas what this could be?

I know that my muffler has a loose baffle in it causing vibrations but not sure if the baffle could fail and clog the muffler temporarily? I restarted the truck later that day and it seemed to idle fine.. maybe a bit more vibration then usual. I went up and down my driveway without any loss of power.

Could it have just been some bad gas? I'm going to tow it into the dealership to get it checked out but I'd hate to get it there and then for them to find nothing.

Dealership hasn't been able to replicate the problem.

Misfire was on cylinder 4 and 8. They checked all the wiring and connections. They are keeping it overnight and trying again tomorrow morning.

Should I be asking them to check compression on those cylinders?

Hi

My 2019 yukon with 5.3 started doing the exact same, same codes; and everything closed today... (labor day)

Did you/the dealer eventually find out what the problem on yours was?

Thanks

Dan
