Sony Dream System

Does anyone have any experiance with the Sony home theater systems? I went out to the Sony Outlet today to listen to one, but they didn't have any...

 

I'm interested in their DAVFC8 or DAVFC9 Dream System...

 

I really want to downsize/simplify my system and upgrade the amp/reciever technology.

 

I currently run a Technics reciever/amp (100W per) with surround but not 5.1 or 6.1. I have a nice Sony CD player and a Phillips DVD with a set of Bose 701 speakers and a Toshiba big screen. I'll have to relocate this equipment (except the TV) if I get something different...

 

I really like the looks of these Sony systems and they spec out well... does anyone know anything about them? I can get this one for about $600 delivered.

The bass is awesome, I also have the Sony vega/wega, and TiVo system.

Shaners... make sure you add this to your system. I've had mine since x-mas and I dont know how I watched TV without it!

Now I'm having a little dilema....

 

For about the same money (maybe less) I can upgrade my reciever to a 5.1 Dolby (Pioneer) 100x5 watts w/.02THD and add a Bose Center Channel speaker along with a pair of Bose 161's for the rears and keep my Bose 701's for my fronts. I was at the Bose store today and listened to that combo with a less powerful Onkyo reciever and 601's as the fronts and it sounded great...

 

The downside is that I will keep my single CD/DVD player by Philips/Magnavox and my single CD Sony player.

 

I really like the idea of a fully integrated system like the Sony Dream, but without listening to it I would have a hard time sacrificing my 701's.

 

The guy at the Bose store said the Sony Dream system would sound as good or better than the new Bose 3-2-1 Home Theater, but he said that since I already had some of the pricier Bose floor model speakers that I might want to consider this other option. Of course I would expect the Bose guy would want to sell me more Bose, but I think he was being fair when he said the Sony Dream was a good system, especially when it is less expensive than his 3-2-1 system.

Well, I gotta tell ya, I came across the Onkyo ???-660 (HTIB) in a

"FRYS" advertisement. On a whim, I went & bought it. I had read several

reviews on it & other "HTIB's", & pretty much new what I was getting.

....5.1.....100w/ch & 150w sub.....but, they were going for $299.00

new, not a refurb.

 

I love it, added in a DVD player to go with my 65" Mitsu & I am in

heaven......

 

$299.00 dollars...............even if I didnt like it, I could put it in the

bedroom.......

 

 

 

I am still smilin......but then again, too many 160mph blasts on my

scooter have ruined these 45 yr. old ears....lol
