4.8L vs 5.3L

I've been looking at purchasing a newer truck. I've found a few 2000 Extended Cab pickups, but they very from 4.8L and 5.3L V8's. I was curious as to the difference in horsepower and toque between the 2 trucks, and whether or not it's worth it to buy the 5.3 over the 4.8.

They are pretty close when it comes to HP numbers (not sure for 2000) but the 5.3L has more torque which would help if you plan on towing about 6000lbs or more on a regular basis. I have a 4.8L and love it, no regrets at all. It is way faster and can tow better than the '91 TBI350 we used to have. If you have 2 trucks that you like and the deciding factor is a 4.8 or 5.3 go with the 5.3, always go for the largest engine possible in the configuration of your choice. My 4.8L is in a Reg Cab, I am sure the added weight of an Ext Cab wont help the performance feel of a 4.8 and a 5.3 would be nice in an Ext Cab.
