after looking at the new 05 mustang, and hearing the people literally drool over this car, (including myself) even tho they only have 300hp right now. i think that GM should look into making a modern version of the 1969 camaro or something that at least resembles the 1st gen camaro. seeing how muscle cars are more popular than ever, if they could get the body right, put a nice cowl hood on it, etc., i think chevy would have a legit answer to the 05 mustang, and we can relive history, as it was in the 60's.

Retro styling

I rather see GM spend time and money into making a good looking, modern, efficient and beautiful Camaro than a retro rehash of the 69. The first gens were my favs and the 4th gens also my second fav design but this retro thing has to go.

Jay Mays of Ford only knows one thing, and thats rehashing old designs; Mustang, Cobra concept, GT40, thunderbird, etc etc.

We've seen how well retro doesnt work after a few years. I think retro styling would just do more in harming the Camaro name than help it. Keep the retro styling out of the cars and be original IMHO.

I don't know ... like you, the first gen camaros are definitely my favs, but I would have no problem with Chevy bringing back a little of that styling in a new one. I agree that if you don't have enough creativity to come up with new designs and concepts then ya probably shouldn't be designing cars, but at the same time, I see this as a "remembering where you came from" type of thing. I *think* Camaro fans in general would love it (I know I would!), and it would in no way be viewed as stagnant styling. Personally, I get a little pi$$ed when a company changes a product that is very popular just for the sake of change. But that's just my $.02

Artists actually toyed with this idea of a retro 'maro, and it appeared in motor trend awhile back... Ill try to dig up some pics from somewhere even if it comes down to going back through magazines and scanning the pics.

As I remember, I didnt like what I saw; and on a side note the 05 Stang isnt doing anything for me.

That car looks good but its like something aint right with the front? Like it seems outta place. I know it meant to look like the old style but it just doesnt seem in place correctly.

I know most of us camaro fans like the old style 1st gens, and it'll never go stagnant on us. However the majority buying public (real target audience) will view it as stagnant or they'll say: "If I want to buy a 67 to 69 Camaro I'll buy a 67 to 69 Camaro.

Its just bad marketing from one standpoint to go full retro.

Yeah, those pics are from some design student, and GM will not use designs from outside sources...So that one aint happening.

Wasn't there an article in Motortrend, or Car and Driver with those pics?

Sweet looking car though.

I had a link to it in a post I made.

I really like that design. I also liked the 05 stang concept, but the production model is to wattered down I think.
