2011 Silverado -ABS Bleed - Pull the fuse trick

I just changed my front calipers (bleed screws rusted). My brakes still feel spongy. I did the typical brake bleed on all four corners starting with the farthest. I do not see any air in the bleed process. I did the 2 person pump the brakes 3 times method.

 

Then I went back through and did a gravity bleed, still no help

 

For an ABS bleed, does the "pull the ABS fuse(s) process" work on this series of truck? I really do not want to buy an bi-directional scan tool.

 

I have also read about slamming on the brakes or put it in 4wd. Most of these comments were on a older series though, GMT-800.

 

My next step is to do the manual bleed again. I thought I would see what to do next step is if that doesn't help.

 

I do have and older bleeder pump, but didn't have the correct cap for my master. Maybe I should rig something so I can use it on the next round.

if the pedal doesn't come up or get firmer with 2-3 pumps there is probably no air in the system. abs brake pedals normally have a slightly spongy feel to them but once you drive it they are fine. if you think there is still air in the system try cracking the lines from the master to the abs module at the module, have your helper step on the pedal and hold to the floor while you tighten them. may have to repeat a couple times. I recently had the same problem and that's where the air was trapped for some reason

Bled all 4 of my brakes using a home made kit.  Got a poweraide bottle and used 3/16" ID airline host.  Fits nice and snug over the nipple.  Just fill the bottle up 1/4 way with new fluid.  Make sure the end of hose is all way below the fluid.  Just keep pumping.  Can easily tell when there is no air in the system when there is absolutely no air bubbles in the hose.  Can also tell when you don't see air bubbles going in the bottle anymore when pumping.  Once you are 100% certain seeing no bubbles then the system is free of air.  Super simple cheap way to make sure is done right and with no air left in system.  This way helped me flush all old fluid out in less than an hour all 4 brakes.
