Ok, I put that up over lunch and didn't have much time to explain.

That is our hay mower, pictured here the way it should be.

This morning I was mowing our last field of hay when a huge rainstorm blew up out of no where.  Couldn't see a thing going down the road trying to get back to the farm.  Kind of scary on a tractor, only going 20mph so I had every light on that thing lit up hoping people would see me.

Well I pulled into the driveway of our west farm going plenty fast just to get off the road and nailed a pothole that needs to be filled in.  That arm that attaches one side of the mower to the tractor cracked in half.  I ditched the tractor and came home in the truck until the rain was over, than came back and unhitched the mower, which was quite difficult to say the least.

That sucks Jp.  :D Those storms that come out of nowhere are pretty scary, especially when they catch you out in the middle of a field.  Luckily you made it home without anyone running into you or anything like that.

Man I thought that I could mess up a 260!!  I bent the main beam in mine to years ago doing the same thing that you did trying to get out of the rain.  The beam was not that high but they priced me that piece first and it was a little more than the beam which was about $350.00 I think.  Would you like to buy a good used 260?  I would part with mine I want to get a 9 footer.

Somebody's punishing you for posting those whoops pics! :D

Now on the serious side, Glad you were not hurt during the mis-hap. How much will it cost you guys to fix it? How long can you go without that particular piece of Equipment?

If I had a decent welder I could fix it myself, but on something like this I'm not going to trust my 110 volt thing.  First thing tomorrow our welder is going to be out and get her patched together, I'm thinking it'll be about $75, a VERY cheap repair when talking in terms of farm machinery.

Once the field that I was mowing dries off I'll be getting back in there to finish it, so I'm thinking tomorrow afternoon we'll be needing it again.

It looks like it has been broken in that same spot once before? :ehh:

Isn't it amazing how rain clouds just pop up out of nowhere when you cut hay? :D

Yes, it was broken in that same spot about six years ago now if I remember it correctly.  I was just thinking while mowing the first cutting that it was due to go once again, and turns out I was correct.

Well, the welder was out first thing this morning and got it patched together better than it was after the first picture.  This guy is good, I think I may die of old age before this weld breaks (and I'm only 20).

I got the rest of the field mowed, you can tell where I was forced to stop the first time when the storm came rolling in.
