And bedding in brakes...

And trans gearing and friction material...

And differential gearing...

 

Break-in is best done with varying speeds and varying loads and varying acceleration and deceleration.

Towing makes it much more likely that loads will be both higher and steadier. 

 

Of course, size and weight of trailer, as well as speeds and distance to travel are all factors to also consider. 

 

 

Break-in recommendation is not just a duramax thing.
