Electric Coolant Fans on '03 Silverado?

My 2001 LS1-powered Vette was equipped with dual electric cooling fans and I had expected the Silverado would have the same. Much to my surprise, I found a waterpump driven plastic fan. Are dual electric fans a viable option and if so, should I expect a performance benefit?

Duh Dave. The parallel I was trying to make is the Silverado engine has its beginnings with the LS1... Sorry if it was lost on you...

Second, fan, driven by water pump or electric motor, was not a priority item at time of purchase. At the time of purchase, I popped the hood and was satisfied with what I saw. Now, I'm in 'performance improvement mode' and the fan is the next area that I intend to focus on as I am NOT satisfied with keeping it 'stock'.

I dont want to be a jerk either, but the 4.8 IS technically an LS1. That is the generation of engines it falls under. :P But yes, Ive heard people have gotten gains from adding EL Fans.

I have a 2000 Vette and I love the electric FANS.. I think not having them on a truck is a complete waste of Fuel and HP.. By the way.. Are you on the Corvette Forum?

I use LS1edit to program my Vette, As soon as I pick up my tahoe I plan to do the Fan mod right away and start tweaking my (LS1 Based) engine with LS1edit...

Here is a link to the electric fans my Corvette Brother... :P

If you don't want to pay $400 for fans, go to a junk yard and get a set of fans from a 99-02 LS1 powered f-body. Power and control them with a VSC from Flex-a-lite. This would proabaly cost ~$200. This is what I plan to do, maybe this spring.
