TopazBlue6.2 Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Hello, Has anyone installed the SS3 fog kit on a 14-15 Silverado? Getting ready to knock them out in the next few days. I’ve seen guys say it’s easier to remove the bumper to install but I’ve also seen a review or two saying not necessary. Excited to get them on, hopefully they are as good as they seem to be! Will report back…
josney Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 I was able to swap mine to HID's before the truck was lowered. But removing the bumper doesn't take that long either
TopazBlue6.2 Posted November 24, 2022 Author Posted November 24, 2022 I wanted to check back in and update that you DO NOT have to remove the bumper to install this fog light kit! The first thing to do is turn the tire all the way to create space where you’ll be working, then remove the brace that holds the edge of the bumper to the frame (3 bolts) and remove 3-4 of the lower screws on the fender liner and pull it back to give yourself room to remove the fog assembly. Once you’ve done that remove bolts(6 I think) for fog assembly and disconnect light and slide it out. Take it to the bench follow instructions from Diode Dynamics and reinstall. Once brace and fender liner are back in turn the wheel the other way and knock out the other side. Very easy and worthwhile upgrade!
TopazBlue6.2 Posted November 24, 2022 Author Posted November 24, 2022 (edited) Now for the performance of the lights. I ordered the SS3 Max version and replaced the fog light lenses that comes in the kit with combo lenses. All I can say is WOW! I drove the truck 3000 miles from Idaho to Alaska right after the install they were worth every penny on that drive. The light output from such small lights is pretty amazing, I would absolutely recommend these to anyone that frequently drives in the dark and doesn’t want to add a light bar. Low Beams, morimoto LED Only SS3 max with combo lenses Lows, Highs and SS3s This is a screenshot of the fog lense that comes on this kit, I’m holding it and hinting on the wall to show the output and cutoff line. Very impressive! Edited November 24, 2022 by TopazBlue6.2
Chris Mahoney Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 I installed these on my 16 Silverado. They draw low power when the headlights are in the on position. I tested them and they are getting about 5 volts with headlights on and fog lights not on. Anyone else have this issue ? Diode sent me new fogs and same issue
