2022 Silverado 1500 High Country Subwoofer Install

Recommended Posts

I added a JL 8” Amplified Microsub+ into my new 2022.5 High Country. Hope this thread helps.

Utilized the following instructions from Kicker.

Kicker Install Instructions

I soldered my connections to the front driver door yellow and yellow black for my high level inputs at the spot the install instructions suggested.

I utilized the RBC-1 Controller and ran it under the carpet and up into the console. Had to drill a couple holes. See pics.

Cut the underseat storage tray with a multi tool.

The JL is an awesome little sub. It sounds way better now and gives it good kick. I am going to add a Kicker Keyloc later, feels like it will clean up the sound a bit as I had the sub in a F-150 B&O with a LC2i and it sounded cleaner. I ran a power wire for it so I can add it later.

Also going to replace dash speakers with the Audiofrog GS25 units as the next mod.  Has anyone done this, looking for feedback?ADF43BC5-AEC4-4221-AF80-4BB20B7F5E25.thumb.jpeg.d722e1640c6cc7e30973964bedd2cd31.jpegB5A1037F-5E21-44FB-AC8B-5C1EBAD5E530.thumb.jpeg.5b5929ec3a557ffbdd95ce5ffbbdb82c.jpeg

Looks good! How does it sound? I am planning on doing the same thing on my 2022 GMC refresh

How hard was it to cut the storage? I’m really not wanting to cut the cables (I bought a custom t harness for wiring) or cut the storage but my the amp/sub I got is 18-11/16"W x 13-3/8"H x 9-3/4"D1 x 6-1/8"D2 which I assume will require me to cut the storage. I do utilize it for tie downs and accessories so would hate to lose it. Does it look clean after you cut into it?

I have the JL stealthbox in my 19 at4 with a JL HD/750 on it and an lc2i it slams the sound is real tight. I’m going to add a kicker key180 to my front stage and let the DSP clean it up a little as it sounds kinda muddy at high volumes.

Sorry for the late response. I changed phones and for some reason it wasn’t notifying that people responded to the thread. It’s sounds great. I may add the Kicker keyloc DSP line out to help clean it up. It won’t blow your mind but adds that bit more.  I used a multi-tool to cut the bin to fit to size. It worked great and I used a new blade to get a clean cut.

Hey! Do you mind giving some more details on your initial install following the GM sub install? Like I see 4 high level inputs on the sub, but we are tapping into just two wires…also does the amp/sub turn off when the truck turns off? I installed the GM kicker sub in my previous truck, but kinda want to try this sub out in my new 2023 ltz with Bose…so I am pretty familiar with that install. Thanks!!
