Anyone run new speaker wires into the doors?

Im getting ready to install a SQ system in my 2017 Silverado double cab. Usually in the plugs that go into the cab and the doors there will be a larger hole that you can drill out a tad to pass wires through. Looking at videos all the holes look tiny. 

 

Am I not thinking of something easier? I do not like using the small stock speaker wires.
