2006 5.3 swap to 2007 Tahoe 5.3 using 2006 ECM, motor and trans wire harness. has anybody done a swap like this and did it work?

1. I want to swap a 2006 5.3 from pickup truck with complete electrical motor and trans harness to a 2007 Tahoe 5.3. has any one done this type ofswap before and did it work?

Yeah, that's not going to work out real well.

 

Nothing in the Tahoe will function again if you do that. With the 2006 engine/transmission and wiring harness/fuse block, those will be the only things working for you. The 2007 Tahoe uses the PCM/BCM together to make the rest of the truck function. The entire cluster and data stream is CAN-BUS and the P59 controller of the 2006 engine doesn't use that. If you had traction control or stabilitrak, it won't work anymore either. Not sure the functions of the 4 wheel drive system would work either because it doesn't know what is going on.

 

It's easier, cheaper and less of a headache to just replace the items needed on the Tahoe that match the generation of the truck.
