Hey guys,

THere should be a fuse in the fuse box located in the engine bay that is for the DRLs, just pull that fuze and I think you'll be set. Its what I did to my 99 Silverado.

Update, that did the trick. Just in case anybody doesnt know, you can get rid of auto lights by putting a jump wire on the sensor thats on the top of the dash.

On the '03s and '04s, If you havethe Driver Information Center with the steering wheel controls, you can do this without pulling any fuses or jumpers. It is a programable option.

 I hated the DRL's also. First thing I did was rewire it and put 55 watt bulbs in them. I wired it through a toggle switch so I could turn them on/off when I wanted. I was really disapointed with the amount of light output though. The DRL lens does not focus the light, so the light just sort of vaguely lights up the whole area. It's sort of like walking outside at night with a "naked" light bulb on. I believe the purpose of the DRL is to be seen, not see with them. Only problem was after a while they melted the housing. Had to get new turn signals (from E-Bay). So next I went to a junk yard and got a couple of GM 3 wire turn signal sockets (park, turn, ground) that will fit in the hole. I had to do very slight trimming of the sockets to make them fit the DRL hole. Then I wired them in parallel with my original turn signals. So now I have both of them on when my lights are on and when turn signals are on also.

That's the reason.

Most people around here don't even put their lights on in foul weather, they always say they can see fine, I say great, but I can't see you.

i worked with a guy who disabled his DRLs on a S-10. Months later a woman pulled out in front of him in broad daylight and totaled his truck.

Put some amber ones in there if you get the mod bug.

if I am going to have DRLs on my vehicles I would much rather have the regular headlights serve as the DRLs and not those silly stupid little squares next to my turn signal. I think it's a joke how on some vehicles, GM made the bright turn signal to be a DRL.:rolleyes::eek: ok time for a  pill

I'm curious as to how you "jumpered" the light sensor to override the auto headlights. I have a procedure for '99-'02s, but the '03's are a different breed of animal. I don't plan on doing it, but just curious. At least they added a selection on the switch to override them in 2003.

BTW, removing the light sensor will also affect the auto climate control if you happen to have that option.

Doesn't your 2004 have the option to do that on the headlight switch?

Seems like the trick of pushing in the dome overide 4 times is just as easy however it's not perminant...

I do like the idea of having your DRL's on with your Park lights.. Hum.. Project for this weekend....

That's how the newer S-10's are set up. My 2K leaves the DRLs on when the P-lights are on, if I haven't disabled them. The 2000 S-10's also use the low beams for DRLs...

Yeah, I like to read all the forums and provide insight where I can...

I didnt check my "driver information center" for headlight controls. DRL's suck in my opinion. I dont like them and never will. In foul weather I either run my headlights or sidemarkers and fog's. So I am safe on that issue. As far as auto headlights. My truck doesnt have digital climate control. So I dont have auto climate. So thats why i was able to get rid of it. I simply placed a jump wire on the sensor to get rid of it. It tells the computer that its light outside all the time. I know I have the option, but I dont want the option. I wanna be able to turn them on and off at will. Not have the computer give me a choice. Thats just the way I look at it.
