Exact engine?

Hello, hoping someone can help me out . Just got a 2007 GMC C7500 . Its been confusing looking things up for it as i believe its a 7.8l Isuzu engine but there is several different ones & i am trying to figure out if it has the DPF or not & also parking brake, abs & brake with wrench lights stay on with warning chime at all times. Would so appreciate any info i can get .

There are several different H.P. ratings for the Duramax 7.8L/Isuzu 6HK1 engines, but they are all basically the same.  There should be a sticker on top of the valve cover that has the horsepower of your particular engine.  Also, you can check the 'SPID' lable.  It is usually found in the glove box and lists all the codes for every option the truck has including the engine.  If you can't find it, a GM dealer should be able to look it up for you.  LF8 is the RPO code for the 7.8L diesel.

 

Generally speaking a 2007 C7500 would have a DPF.  Here is a picture of one on a GM truck with the 7.8L diesel:

As for your brake problem, it sounds like an ABS fault.  You should take the truck to a medium/heavy truck brake repair shop and have it diagnosed.

GM stuck the Duramax name on the Isuzu 7.8L as well as the 6.6L V-8 in the pickups and smaller TopKicks.  It does not appear your truck has a DPF, that looks like a regular muffler.  Which would be a good thing!

Thank you so much. Good to know & also good to know they call it a duramax as well because i think that is where the confusing is coming from when i try to look the engine up as i didn't  think it was a duramax & thats what kept popping up when i google it, lol. Im trying to learn what & where everything is but having trouble finding a pic of the engine i have. Thank you again, so appreciate it
