I’ve got a sierra 1500 with a Truxedo roll up tonneau cover. I’d like to be able to install a rack so that I could haul kayaks above the cab while still using the tonneau cover. Any suggestions?

I had a try fold first and wanted the capability to use a rack. Didn't want to buy a whole new set up to accommodate a rack, so i build one myself with unistrut from work. They make a million different fittings and you can completely customize height, location, etc for your needs. I can still lock my cover and keep water tight while holding additional items. Also, when my cover is open, i can stand in the bed and still reach the front of the bed to load/unload. Have been camping multiple times and works perfectly for me. I also switched the cross bars to the shorter version to save weight and keep the water-proof bag i have under the roof line for better aerodynamics.

the rack fits in my stake bed pockets and i have it bolted in with existing holes. the whole rack is super sturdy (i can rock the entire truck from the roof rack i attached to it).
