I keep getting emails from Carfax, both after a dealer service as well as notices of impending service requirements. The after-service ones list the type of service as well as the mileage. The notices of service due continue to suggest a service which is for a diesel (my truck is gas). I presume I can unsubscribe, but before that I am trying to determine how Carfax became involved and how they know evolving details (like mileage) of my vehicle. I have spoken to two service reps and the service manager at the dealers and they all advise they do not associate with Carfax nor do they know how Carfax is getting the information.

I received/reviewed no information about Carfax when I purchased the truck and have not signed or agreed to any Carfax service. I have tried contacting them with no luck. Anyone else get Carfax emails and/or does anyone know how they obtain my truck service information?

The dealer did it for our truck. The emails annoy me sometimes but I typically only get them once a month. You can opt out using the link at the bottom of the email ("Something wrong? Let us know").

Thanks madweazl.

I'm sure it came to be through someone with the dealer.

It just puzzled me that three employees, who I thought should know, knew nothing about Carfax.

It will be just as easy to Unsubscribe, as I get the same notices through Onstar, anyway.
