I have a 2017 Silverado. I have noticed that on a cold start, I get a clanking/knocking sound coming from driveshaft area. Currently have 143k miles.

Does anyone know what this could be? I keep reading about the Chevy Clunk and not sure this could be it. I'll have to record a vid later tonight after work once it's cold for reference.

Any help is appreciated. Don't feel like taking it to dealership for them to charge $200 to identify issue.

First, I'd suggest checking the front & rear U-joints for wear/play. Also check the front driveshaft U-joints for the same.

If they check out OK, it may be the drive shaft spines where they enter the transmission. Sometimes, due to no lube, the drive shaft will kind of buckle up, so to speak, when you come to a stop. And when you let off the brake you will hear & feel a clunk as the drops down, if that make sense to you. I've seen videos where guys pull the splines out of transmission grease it up to help stop this, but eventually, it comes ack as the grease dry's out.  Search YouTube for this

Appreciate that. Come to think of it, I do hear and feel a clunk letting off brake.

Clunk on cold start?  From the driveshaft area?
