I purchased this 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD High Country new. Early on the brakes started squeaking and roaring at low speeds. I contacted the dealership to see if it was a warranty issue. They said a technical bulletin was coming. They changed the brakes out per the technical bulletin at 30k miles. I called the next day and told them it did not fix my truck. They said to see if it got better. It has not. They changed out the wiring harness for the entire camera system just before the warranty went out. I talked with them then to see if GM would warranty my brake issue. They said GM said the noise was normal. If I wanted they could change the brakes at my cost of $800. I declined. This is not a normal sound. The truck now has 89k miles and is still making the embarrassing sound. I have been a loyal GM customer purchasing several new vehicles for the last 20 years. I am very disappointed in this truck.

My 2021 GMC 2500 squealed every so often, but it was due to heavy towing. Why don't you move away from the stock GM brake compounds? I've had good luck with Wagners and Powerstops.

Brake pad noise and dust are purely down to pad compounds and driving style. Not too common of a complaint for squeaky brakes on this forum, are you a trail-braker or tow heavily?

I have a 2020 with the same issue. The brakes were squealing, moaning, roaring, and whatever other annoying sounds you can think of when stopping at slow speeds. And this was with cold or hot brakes, it did not matter. A drive thru was very embarrassing. My dealer changed my brakes around 20k miles based on a TSB but the new brakes were not any better. After dealing with the noisy brakes for 68k miles, I finally got fed up a couple months ago and changed all the brake pads to the Powerstop z36 towing pads. I have put almost 3k on those pads and not even a little squeak. I normally only buy OEM parts but do yourself a favor and ditch the GM pads, you'll be glad you did!

And it is definitely an issue. Here is the 7 page post from another person.

Good info 👍. I guess after wrenching for years, brake noise doesn't affect me as I only really care about performance. My 2021 only really squealed after heavy towing.

The z36 pads are awesome. Low'ish dust accumulation and outstanding stopping power.
