Which tires?

Looking for new tires, I am looking at cooper discover a/t. I think I got a good price for them. Around $140 a piece and that includes lifetime balance and rotations for free and road hazard. Does anyone have any recommendations on these tires or any other tire they would recommend and how much you have paid for tires?

Those tires wear well, but a comparable, but more aggressive tread design is the

Mastercraft A/T. They look good and have a 50,000 treadwear rating

I paid 350 for 4 installed and have ran for 15,000 miles and are wearing very well.

I am surprised a tire so cheap can perfrom so well, especially with my driving habits.

The tire size I have is 265/75/R16 and are a six ply tire (D rating?)

They usually run about 500-550 a set, but I know of a tire shop in Indiana that sells them cheap than anywhere.

Look into them on there website matercrafttires.com

I went with Michelin LTX MS 265X75X16 a couple of weeks ago, they are also 6 ply but come in 10 ply too. I really like the and the look they gave my 2003 5.3 Sierra 4X4 xcab. I paid $650 for 4 at discount tire. the tread is not very aggressive but does GREAT in the Vancouver B.C. rain and give a very nice ride. With rotation, these things go forever...

I buddy at work put Yokohamas on at the same time, same size. The tread is very aggressive and give his AV a mean look. Good luck, the tire makes or breaks the look of the truck....

I just put Revos on my truck and really like them. They're quiet, have a MUCH smoother ride than stock, have really nice grip for their tread....

Go to tirerack.com. They have a great selection with all the stats. You can narrow down your search then do a comparision. The Revos rated at least 9.5's across the board  .

I have had 2 sets of Cooper Discoverer A/Ts and they have been pretty good tires. I paid $99 each for mine and that includes mountind and lifetime balance! They are a good tire for that price, wont last as long as some Michelins or some others but when you think about it, they will actually because you can buy 2 sets of them for the same price you can 1 set of another brand. I am not bashings those pricey tires, I am sure they are good tires also, but I am the kinda person that likes gettin new tires LOL! I gave my last set of Cooper Discoverer A/Ts at 20,000 miles away because I took some new ones off of a truck we were selling. At 20,000 miles they probably had another 15000-20000 left in them. I am currently looking for some different tires now too, going to take the Coopers off my steel wheels I am running now and put them on my aluminum wheels for summer. Was wanting to get Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs for my steel wheels but they are on national backorder (the goodyear dealer said that would probably be a while)! So now I am considering the Firestone Destination MT, The ratings on tirerack.com show that those are a little better overall than the MTRs and BFG MTs!

Cooper is making good tires!!! Mastercraft is made by Cooper and is very similar if not the same. I believe the model is "Courser". I've run Coopers before and thought they were very good for the $$$.

Right now I'm running 10-ply Michelin LTX M/S on my HD and I'm very happy with them!

Hey SilveradoWV, how come you can get your tires so cheap? I havent shopped around for tires yet. Just had the place give me a price where I get my oil changed. I didnt think $140 was a bad price which includes rotation and balance, but your price sounds even better.

There is a small chain of tire shops here ( I think its just here in southern WV) called "C. Adam Toney Tires", there only like 3 stores. Their prices are really good on any tire, they stock alot of cheaper off brand tires and a few good brands but they can order anything and its always cheaper than anyone else around, especially when mounting and lifetime balance is free. The first set of Cooper Discoverers I got were 265/75/16s Load Range D, at that time they were out of Load Range C's so they asked if D's would be ok for the same price so I said yeah and got Load Range D's for $99 a tire. The second set they had Load Range C in a 265/75/16s and the regular price was $99 a tire. When I had my '95 K1500 it had an alignment problem which wore out the front tires really fast, and they were Firestone Steeltex ATs and the dealer also ordered them from C Adam Toney! Alot of people here buy their tires there because they are so cheap and that is probably why they are so cheap, they sell alot of tires!

I've had a lot of good luck with Cooper tires, I just went to Cooper SRM II tires on my 00 3500. Ok tire stores has a tire contract with Cox cable on their bucket trucks to run the SRM II, because they last 55,000 miles under heavy load. So hopefully I'll see some good mileage out of them.

Michelins are probably a little better than the Coopers, but a lot more expen$ive.

I've just switched from LTX to Coppers on my '98 K1500. My Michelins performed excellent but due to their pricing (here in Ontario approx $200 / tire with taxes) I decided to give Cooper a try, very pleased over the 5000 miles I've had em so far. Great dry / wet / snow covered road manners, a little noisier that the LTX but far better in the snow.

IMHO they are in the same league as the LTX performance wise but they cost me approx 1/2 the price of Michelins at $106.oo each including taxes.

Heck of a bargain for a premium tire..........

I also got Cooper AT stock size LT24575R16. Cost me $416.00 out the door. I am totally satisfied. Great price, great traction in any weather, very low noise for an all terrain tire. Guys at work have bought them after seeing mine. I mounted them blackwall out, look super!

I had a set of Goodyear AT's on mine. I hardly ever rotated them & got 70,000 miles out of them, Got about the same from m them on my 91 Jeep wrangler. I think I paid about $550 a set.
