Picked up a set of Go Rhino RB30 Slims. Pretty happy with them. The images show them pushed in toward the truck as much as possible. There is enough room to get one foot sideways on them. You can pull them out more obviously but Id rather have them close as possible to the body of the truck. The way I have them probably wouldn't be too pet or kid friendly.

The mount kit that comes with them is very beefy. Almost TOO beefy. Because of the "slim" width of these running boards, you can see the mount's "Arches" from a low side view. Not the end of the world, but once again the mounts are beefy.

Over all I like them, the quality is top notch.
