Wondering if anybody is using an aftermarket MAF. What brand are you running and what results have you had with it? What other equipment are you running with it?

Thanks for info.

I bought a Granatelli maf at the same time i bought a k&n intake, i put both on at the same time. After 150 miles or so the service engine soon light came on. So i checked it with predator and it was running bad lean  I erased the code and reset the computer, and the code came back. Reset the computer several times and it kept coming back at about 100 to 150 miles. My truck even starting pinging some during hard accerleration. Needless to say i yanked that pos out and put the stocker back in. From what i hear most people that get one have problems with their engines running lean or rich. I guess the only way to get one to work is to have a custom tune for it made. But i don't see that being worth it since just an intake with a stock maf flows quite well. Id say go with a ported throttle body or something instead. Just my 2 cents, good luck.

Yep it sure was, i just remembered a minute ago that i was reading on this forum that several people used the new zo6 maf, which is descreened from the factory, and tuned to run that way, you might get some more airflow from that. I never could find a place to get one though. And you would have to find out if it would work on your tahoe. If i ever find anything i will post it.

We dyno'd 4 GMS MAF sensors on a 02' Z06 Vette, two GMS MAF lost 3-7 rwhp, then GMS made us "two special" MAF, they gained us no hp, but did not lose power. I would stay with your stock MAF for best all around performance.

Stay with the stock MAF. I didn't see a thing with my GMAF. If I had to do it all over again I would not have purchased it. I wish I knew of this forum back then. Like they say "hind sight is 20/20"

I too had codes pop up on mine but for some reason they have not come back in 20k miles. Debating on yanking the GMAF, but then looking at getting Westers PCM and might ask if I should tune for it or just pull it. No other mods done other than a Flowmaster big block muffler and running synthetics bumper to bumper.

All great replies,

I think for now I will find something else to spend mod money on.

Thanks guys

Black02silverado, let us know how that works out if you have the Westers tuned for the GMS MAF
