Anyone ever bought

I'm kind of looking at upgrading the HT setup, and am looking at DLP projection units, and am finding quite a few places online that would save me a TON off of retail.

Anybody ever bought a projection TV online? I don't think UPS or Fedup ships stuff this big....How does the shipping work?

Normally, I don't hesitate to order off of the internet, but this is going to cost a pretty penny, and I'm pretty hesitant about it.

Any thoughts, cautions, or advice? Good/bad places to order from?

I have a friend that bought a projection unit online.

He said he saved a ton of money compared to local

HT stores.

I don't know if they sell tv's or not, but I have found that ecost.com and etronics.com have great prices, and great customer service. I've bought a bunch of stuff from both.

Bought our big screen off buy.com 2 years ago and was very pleased with the experience. About the only risk you run is if a problem develops outside of the manufacturer's warranty period. Then you are on your own. We saved a ton of money. The thing was delivered on time no problems at all. The company air freighted the unit to Delaware and then contracted with another trucking company to get it to our Huntsville AL home where we lived. I don't know how they made any money, but they met their delivery comittment. More than I can say about most retailers.

I hate dealing with the dead weight found in most retail stores. Especially Circuit City and Sears. No pressure either to buy one of their worthless service contracts.
