I got a truck!

Yay yay yay, I am so excited.

We went today and looked at a truck. Its a 1998 Chevy Silverado, Short wide bed, single cab, Automatic, 5.7 Liter V8, 63,000 miles.

Its in pretty good shape. The interior is tan, has a cd player, power doors, power locks, power windows, cassette. The interior is in near perfect condition. The outside has a few scratches, nothing big. We looked under it and everything, and it looks in good condition too. It also has dual exhaust.

The color is like a dark red, but semi burnt orange... does that make sense? Anyone know what the color is called?

He had the truck listed for 11,500 but we talked hm down to 9,700 dollars, and I'm putting 3,000 down.

Anyways, what do you guys think? Also, the color is like a dark copper Metallic I believe. To me, it looks better than it sounds? I really like it, but my mom doesn;t. What do you guys think?

Sounds like the paint might be Copper Metallic Clearcoat (69/WA381E) or Dark Toreador Metallic Clearcoat (51/WA334D). One of those "WA" numbers should be on the decal in the glove box, where the RPO's are.

Is is something similar to the color of my truck. Click link fo pics. Good color I like the Dark Copper metallic. It seems to change to a different shade of color depending on the way the light is. BTW congrats on the new truck.

Cangrats! From what your telling us. I don't think that you could have hardly beat the price. If the color is the same as Silverado Man's. I really like it Not only does it look great, but you don't see a to many around. IMO different is always better.

Just wondering. What doesn't your mom like about it?

Yeah Silverado man, I actually think that is my color. I guess my mom thought it would be the same color as my dads old cavalier, and she said(not sure if shes trying to cheer me up) that its not, and she really likes the color.

My dad took it to a mechanic today who looked it over, and he said everything looks good. He put it up and checked it out along with the fluids and he says everything looks good. He said some seal in the back is leakin a little fluid, but not much.

My dad then took it to a body shop who he deals with a lot, and he said its never been wrecked.

So everything cleared out well.

If you guys could help me wioth some questions, then that would be great.

My back bumper is like warped, I believe from the sun. Its got like a white film on it. We put this stuff on it says that it renews color and stuff and it made it black again, but its still greasy and I havent yet wiped it off. The mechanic said if it doesnt work, I'd just have to pain it.

Also, what can body shops do about dings. I have a few dings on it but one guy who doesnt specialize in dings said hed have to bondo it, smooth it down, then repain the whole tail side for one ding. Hopefully a pro can do something more simpler.

If your curious, heres my list for things I'd like to get.

I'd like to

Put a rino liner in (how much do those run?)

Tint the windows dark

Service realignment

Fix breaks

fix a few cheaps and dings.

Dents and dings can be fixed with no bondo/repainting. Just look for a good body shop/guy that can do it. A friend had a few dings in his truck and they were fixed without any major work like bondo and you could never tell it was dented.

Im curios how much it would cost to fix, say 4 small dings, small saying like maybe 1-2 inch.??

We had some terrible Hail here back in April and there are still paintless dent repair tents and trucks on every corner, there are probably some body shops that actually do this (paintelss dent repair) on a regular basis. Not sure of the price though! Oh BTW a local place here does the spray in bedliner for $485, I think they use stuff called SpeedLiner! Not sure if that is as good as Rhino or some of the others!

There are companies called "paintless dent removers" around here. They service most major dealerships to take dings out of the sides of their used cars. It is a quick and relatively cheap repair with no Bondo or painting.

My buddy had them come to his house and pull a door ding out of his Intrepid. He was amazed when the guy left... I think he paid around $50...
