hitch bolt information

I have a 2000 silverado 4dr ext cab short bed.

Just obtained a used factory hitch. Cannot find anyone willing to provide me bolt sizes. Dealer parts does not have the information since it comes as a package deal. Local places are willing to install it for me for $75, but not willing to give me bolt sizes. Can anyone help ?

I would just get under and see where it attached to and what size bolt fits it. As for bolts make sure they are grade eight bolts. The way to tell grade of bolt is the lines marked on the head of the bolt plus 2 ( I believe ), I know a grade 5 has 3 lines. Anyways I would make sure you use good washers and tighten it down good, I would maybe even go to your local auto store and buy some cheap bolts to see what fits and what doesn't.

I wish I could help, but all I know is it would most likely be Metric!!! I've never even looked at the heads of mine, but I'm guessing they are probably a grade 8 bolt.

Why not try a place that installs platform hitches. They mount theirs in the same holes and will have what you need.

Just use the heavy duty zip ties and you'll be just fine.
