Hello All,

I just finished replacing both front wheel bearing hubs on my 2020 Sierra 2500hd, and now I have a bunch of warning lights lit and 2 messages on the info center.  The messages are to service the ESC and to service the Trailer Braking System.  The warning lights lit are the Traction Control, ABS, Stability something or other, and I  think 1 other.

Anyway, what the heck did I do (or not do) when I replaced the hubs?

Note: the 2020 2500hd speed sensor is on the steering knuckle, not on the hub. I replaced one sensor with the new one that came with the hub. The other one I  used the same sensor since it was not disturbed by the repairs. I can clear the codes, but they all come back within a few seconds while driving.

Please help. What do I need to do to clear all the lights and the messages?

Many thanks!

I would remove and clean and inspect the speed sensors on both hubs for a start.  Thats not too involved or difficult to do and could yield positive results.

Did you put the brake system into service mode? That will trip a bunch of codes

The electronic parking brake and brake pad sensors need to be put into service mode before you unplug the sensors to get to the bearings. If you don't it will throw a bunch of codes when you plug everything back in. Check youtube for how to do it.

First of all, what does the parking brake have anything to do with front wheel bearings. Second, the HD trucks have drum parking brakes so you don't have to put them into service mode. Third, I have the OEM service manual and there is nothing in there about brake service mode. Maybe you can point out where it says to do that. In my 2024 OEM service manual, it says to unplug the brake pad sensor...that is it! There is one brake pad sensor in the front and one in the rear. If you are replacing front wheel bearings, you are disconnecting ONE sensor.

Show a Youtube link that discusses this on a Heavy Duty truck.
