I now have a letter to go to the dealer for updates on my 10L1000.
I have been reading about people that have been having issues, yes that is why the recall is out. I hope everyone is ok after having the issues.
I have been reading that people are having the SW update that tells them something is going to happen within a certain time and should go back to the dealer when this happens. They are having issues after this SW is loaded, they are having the problem that this is suppose to warn you about this right after they leave the dealer and the trans starts shifting strangely and wheel lock-ups.
So I'm wondering how many of you have had yours done (SW updates) and did you have this happen? When you went in to have the update installed was your truck running fine? Was it fine after?
The camping season is a month away for me and we are wondering are we going to be in the same boat as many others are in??? My truck is fine at this point, do I take the chance and do the recall or not?
So my mind is going in many directions on this issue, when did all this start to happen with the wheels locking up? Why is the recall for just 2020-2022. I read/hear that all of the 10 speeds (2500hd/3500hd) are having the issue and all at different mileages. I also see many aren't having any issues at all. Then another issue comes up with me, why just diesels. I really don't want to put on the tin foil hat but is this a way to drive diesels out of the market?
I love my truck, but I don't want to be afraid to drive it with my camper on the back. I can't go back to a gas truck without selling the camper. My pin weight is over the limit for any gas truck. Strange but true, none of the gas dually trucks have a pin weight over 3000.

So tell me what you have done with the recall, good or bad.

Don't own one but we did the recall on one and it came back about 500mi after needing a valve body as the new software did its job and detected the pressure fault.  So its likely that on that truck the wheel lock up might have happened even before the reprogram.

Otherwise besides the typical GM programming errors or some slowdown in performing the procedure when the tech forgets to let the TCM fall asleep before performing the service fast learn, we've only had the one truck with a near immediate valve body acting up.

But I say this being at only one of almost 4000 GM dealerships.

If your truck is destined to have the failure it's going to happen regardless of if you get the software patch or not. You're better off on getting the update so that if you do incur the failure, you can keep you and your family safe while pulling your camper. The software is only 20-22' trucks because 23' up already has it in place from the factory, which also tells you GM has known about this for some time now. I have seen guys with gassers have the issue as well so its not just dmax trucks with the failure and I have seen way more 23-up trucks with it then the 22-previous trucks as well for what thats worth.
