Hello, 2012 Silverado 1500 4x4 manual says to check trans fluid at "normal operating temperature" between 165F-200F. I see this as two differant temperature ranges? Normal operating Temps for me is more in the range of 120F-150F. I could run my truck in 2nd gear and leave it running in idle untill the temp goes up to 170F but that is not normal operating Temps for me especially during winter month in the northeast. Should the fluid level be at the Temps that I operate my vehicle or should the level be at a temperature that l only reach on the rare occasion that I'm pulling a heavy load up a grade. Thanks for any response. P.S. Adds on this site are brutal

Just check it at that 140-150 degrees. If it's near the full mark, you are totally fine. We are talking like a 1/4 of a quart difference in level, it's more than okay. Honestly you can be like 1/2 quart over full and be totally okay, lots of guys in the performance world will overfill the transmission so it doesn't run dry at full throttle.
