I try and research before asking but at this point my eyes are crossed. Currently using 5100s for a 2" level but want to move up to 3". Also running 22x10 -18 with 285/55s.

As I'm looking to move 3" I'll be at that limit of needing UCAs. I had my eyes on the cognito kit but started to read that some have issues with tires rubbing the UCA. Obviously not ideal.

I figured out my wheels have a 4.79 back space and the cogs need 5.75. I asked them if would work and they gave me the company line "abt this is our recommendation" I spoke with another rep and they said I would need a 6mm/.25" spacer. As my 285s already stick out a good bit, the last thing I want to do is push them out further.

Compounding the issue, I just bought new rims and tires two weeks ago. So replacing those is also out of the question.

So when discussing backspacing, if it says works with a 5.75 backspace does that mean it has to be less or more than 5.75 in order to work? I thought since I have -18 and theres quite a bit of room from the stock UCAs to the falkens currently, I figured I'd be good.

If the cogs don't work out, are there any other quality UCAs that would work with 4.79 backspacing?

Your current setup will work with the Cognito UCA with plenty of room.   If your BS is less then there suggestion that is good.     I run the Cognito UCA with the bolt on balljoint and I run the stock Trailboss wheels with 35x12.5x18 tites and I barely clear them.

This is a great video to help understand backspacing and offset:

Thanks. That's what I figured and thought. I just don't understand why cognito couldn't say that even though I provided all my info and even reasked with more specifics.

For ref, here is the kit I'm looking at with TB cv axles
