Tow/Haul button

What exactly does it do? I know it raise the RPM shift point and that is all I know about it. Does it increase trans line pressure too? Anything else??

when you switch into tow/haul mode, it makes the transmission shift at a higher RPM than it normally would, eg, it holds gears longer instead of downshifting ... It also "firms up" the 1-2 and 2-3 shift from what I can tell, but doesn't really do anything with 3 or 4 ....

It increases the line pressure for quicker firmer shifts. It also raises the shift points.

Heat is generated during a normal shift overlap. The quicker shifts help eliminate some of that overlap and extra heat.

Actually when I am towing a heavy load, the shifts aren't near as firm as when I'm running empty with the tow/haul button depressed.

Doesn't it also turn off overdrive? Cuz our dodge has that, ands when I drive my cousins Yukon I always hit the tow/haul button, I like the way it shifts like that . But it also turns o/d off right?

Just think of it as a shift kit you can use when you wanna do a little barn storming. I use it when i'm going through a hilly section or when I am going through a rough road. I bet it is probaly easier on components in the tranny to cause it helps keep heat down.
