Vehicle: 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 RST Z71

Front Axle: SU4 AAM

Howdy,

First post and it's a classic we have all seen too often. I'm getting bigger tires so should I regear.

Well, luckily I know the answer is YES! However, as many of you may know Chevy in their infinite wisdom has made that task much harder by having a welded ring and pinion assembly on new front axels (GM 8.0" IFS design).

My question to you all is, have you heard of success stories of people regearing their 2019+ Chevy from the standard 3.23 to 4.56 or higher? If so, what needed to be done. I am getting many different answers online, any i have found maybe one video of someone actually doing it. Even then, the video shows his shop finding out they would need to replace the whole carrier.

I'm going to 37" tires, so before those are on the vehicle I would like to get a good gameplan to regear ASAP.

Thanks!
