Removing Throttle Body Hose

Recommended Posts

I want to remove the TB so I can clean it from both sides. But I can't get the darn hose to the radiator off. I moved my alternator out of the way, moved the clamp on the right side out, but the hose won't pull off. Maybe my fingers aren't strong enough? Tight place. I can't even begin to figure out how to move the clamp off the left side hose.

Any tips?

Thanks,

I use a hose removal tool (looks like a big curly-Q shaped pick) to release the right hose.

I then unbolt the TBI and remove the left hose with the same pick, but with the TBI movable , it is a lot easier.

Note- I also clamp off the two hoses with a set of clamps - there is more coolant in there then you thought possible, and it will go everywhere.

Hope this helps.

Do the TB bypass while you got it off!

Why? What does it do?

I didn't get it off yet since I don't have a hose removal tool. Going to a autoshop to see if they have one I can borrow. Thanks,

I remember seeing a dyno of a vette a while back that had the TB bypass done and it was good for about 4HP or so I believe.
