Shifting in Reverse

I have a 2002 Silverado and noticed this morning after the truck was warmed up that when I put it in reverse it would not lock in. I had to wiggle the shifter to get it in. It just happened once though . Any thoughts or opions of what may of caused that.

Were you parked on a hill? It can de hard to shift into gear if parked on a hill due to the tranny getting into a bind. Just a thought. Chris

Flat surface. I dont know if its something with the Linkage or what.

I've had that happen twice in my '99. I just shifted back into Park and then tried Reverse again and everything was fine. Both times it was pretty cold out, both times the truck was cold (I warmed the engine up for a few minutes, but I wouldn't expect the trans to warm up at all without driving, but then again I've never had an automatic before so I really have no idea).

 

When I shifted out of Park, I could just feel that something didn't "catch," but trying it again was normal. Anyway, it seemed minor to me, so I didn't think of it as a problem, but if it started happening more, I would have it looked at.
