sitn_on_20s Posted March 21, 2004 Posted March 21, 2004 well its starting to heat up here in texas and my a/c isn't working. i have a brand new A/C control head in it. any how it blows "not cold" air from all vents. the compressor isn't turning on. i've tried to jump the low psi switch to see if it would come on but it didn't. so i jumped the A/C relay under the hood, and the compressor kicked on and blew cold air after about a minute. can someone piont me in the right direction please i am dying here. i have access to a gauges if you need more info. BTW i pressed both shrader vavles in just to see if there was freon and some blew out, but if the system is low won't that keep the compressor from kicking or no? thanks
beebow Posted March 21, 2004 Posted March 21, 2004 Just a thought: if you have the same relay for your stop lights and your A/C in the fuse block under the hood try exchanging them to rule out the relay as your problem. If the A/C works with the relays exchanged your in business. I'm in AZ so I feel your pain.
sitn_on_20s Posted March 22, 2004 Author Posted March 22, 2004 i tried by-passing the the relay with the starter relay, no change. i can however, jump the the a/c relay and the a/c compressor kickes on and it starts cooling the truck? anyone got any ideas? thanks
AZ-Z71 Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Make sure it is the same relay. Even though the thing looks the same I noticed on the sides of two of them the other day that the wiring diagram is different. Not sure which ones I looked at but maybe worth the check.
sitn_on_20s Posted March 23, 2004 Author Posted March 23, 2004 well the relays that i swapped out both have the same part numbers on them. i am having a buddy of mine he's a master tech for the local chevy house check it out tommorrow. heath
99-2door Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Is the feed for the relay getting power to it when you turn on the controller? Are you jumping from the feed or from a hot source?
