The only problem with the pre runner bars is that they are almost all universal or at least require hloes bing drilled in the bumper.

You can go with a Smittybuilt bumper thumper or a Warn Grill guard and neither require any drilling. There is a pic of my 2000 ZR2 with the grill guard from Warn in this thread: http://www.gm-trucks.com/cgi-bin....opic=87.

You can also pick up a Performance Accessories body lift for around ? and it takes about 5 hours to install with some help.It will allow you to clear 32's with no additional modifications or you can run 33's with a torsion bar adjustment and maybe some slight fender trimming.

Those pre-runner bars on the front with some lights mounted on it look really good, I think.

I will agree on that!!! There was a big GP over at ZR2.com for them *unfortunately i didnt get in on it*, they do look great though!! I also like the roll/light bar.. If done right they can really add some looks to a truck..

Good luck with your purchases!!

Ouch, I forgot about having to drill into the bumper.  That kind of sucks.  It doesn't bother me to drill for mounting a tool box, bed rails, or something like that, but I've nevr liked the thought of having to drill into the bumper for some reason.

Hey yZR2k,

How many inches is the body lift? I'am thinking when it's time for tires I'll get 32's or 33's.

The only body lift that Performance accessories makes for our trucks,'98-current, is a 2",they do not have a 3" option.

I do recall someone on another board claiming that a company makes a 3" for our trucks but I can't recall which one it was.

I think it was like Trailmaster or someone like that.

With the 2",you can definitely clear 32's and probably 33's if you crank the torsion bars up some. There is a guy on another site who has 33's with the 2" BL and torsion lift and he hasn't mentioned anything about having problems with it.

How about width? It seems the tiers get an inch wider for every inch in hight. I would love to put on 33's. I wonder how much the 33's affect the motors low end grunt? Might even improve highway milage. :)

There are a few width options with 33's.I don't remember who makes them but there are 33x10.50's available although if I was going with a 33 it would be a 12.50.

They are definitely going to take some power away from your truck but I don't know what performance mods you have,if any and how much power it takes will depend on mods.

If you decide on aftermarket rims, stick as close to the factory backspacing as possible or you will have rubbing and may have to do some trimming.

don't try to sqeeze the 33's the trim'in just isn't worth the 1/2 inch of clearance.

The lift kit is a goog idea, but i would keep the stock tire size. The stock zr2 wheel looks good but if you want a custom look get your self some polished wheels. Maybe go an inch wider but try to keep the same back spaceing. That would make a hudge differance in the look of your truck.
