cerwin vegas

Has anyone here had experience with cerwin vegas, namely the VEGA series? I can get me a really good deal on them. I've been told they do more for the wattage than kicker comp vrs, and hit harder and deeper. I dunno? they handle 300 watts rms apiece and so do the compvrs but the vega has a spl of 92 and I think the compvrs have a spl of 85 (these are both ten inch speakers). Which sounds better to you all?

If you've had experience with the vegas, ported or sealed?

CV are great speakers.

But I haven't owned a set in about 10 years, so any experience I have wouldn't be worth typing.

But they are a pretty safe bet.

Just remember, when it comes to electronics....You get what you pay for.

Of course there always a few exceptions, but it's a very true statement.

Sony makes nice stuff, as well as cheap and shoddy crap. So do many manufacturers.

I knew you'd reply

haha yeah I hear they're excellent speakers. I heard a set about a year ago, it was something like two 8"s and I asked the man how many 12s did he have back there.. He said he had two 8s each powered by about 100 watts. 200 watts total pushing two 8s, which I confused for about two or three 12s. :sigh:

But with the new 601s fosgate amp  300 watts a channel, it'll light those vegas up. And that's screwed up my thought about the kicker comp vrs...

I'm so confused... If it hits that hard, I want them badddd.....

I don't know if he was full of crock though haha. He's a pretty trustworthy guy though, so I dunno. He moved away before I struck an interest in them. Forgot the name for a LONG time, finally remembered, and they discontinued those subs!! But I can get two vega10d4's for about $70 a piece. They listed for about $300 a piece in '00.

Cerwin Vega's are awesome subs. I have had 2 different series of the CV's, I don't remember what type the first set was but I had 2 12" in a ported box in the back of a Grand Am and you could hear me coming a mile away. Then those got stolen and I went with a single 12" AI series (made for a ported) enclosure, this sub has a 40lb magnet on it. This sub cost me $300 6 years ago. I am getting ready to install it in my Trans Am, when I upgrade the stereo in the Yukon I will be using CV subs.

went ahead and purchased the Vega 10D4s, and will not put them in a sealed box. It won't do them justice. So now I have to either dish out tons of cash, or figure out how to make the box to the exact specs for the subs. If anyone has any idea about box building in here I'll list the specs I have in a sec. I want to do a slotted port box, cause I hear they work and sound the best.

Sorry it's so long
