TRANS TROUBLES

Boy am I sick of the tranny in my truck. I have a 2001 2500ld with 20k miles on it , very easy miles. I lost the trans at 7000 miles and the dealer replace it after 2 week of messing with it. Then at 18k miles the torque converter bolts came loose , (wonder what caused that). :D then at 19500 miles I notice a whine coming from the trans when it was in gear. So the dealer had it for another week this time repalceing the tq, front pump, bunch of carriers and some planetaries. So I tell the service manager that I dont feel to good about this whole deal with only have 2 week left on my factory warrenty . They told me that there was nothing they would do to extend the warrenty on the trans but if some thing happent in the near future to the trans they would look and the miles and probely cover the trans. So I took the truck home hoping that all is well. It drives home just fine tranny feels good. Then next day I get in the truck and take of for a little road trip up north to try out the trans. I seem to be shifting a little firm. By time I got the truck home from Seattle the truck was shifting so hard it was shakeing the whole truck and hurting my guts. So any tip you all have for me before I take it down dealer would be great

the original problem was bad enough, but the repairs that followed sounds alot like poor workmanship :D

Firm shifts r cool if your racing or doin hole shots all the way to your destination..

but for every day drivers

Make sure you have everything noted and your records in order..then try giving your local GM rep a call...

Almost sounds like the programming of the PCM is bad,or maybe the crack(smoking) mechanic wanna-be pinched the wiring harness somewhere when it was reinstalled

I would find out a way to get them to warrenty the tranny for another 30K. Have you tried another dealership. And maybe even go to a well respected tranny shop, and get a second opinion on the troubles. No way would I settle for some BS about if any problems in near future. Look into lemon laws.

I would definately call general motors about the problem - there is no way a transmission with 20K miles on it should be having any problems - and I would be damned if so stupid ass mechanic at the local dealership does a crappy job on repairing it just to cost me money 3 months down the road when it is not under warranty anymore. Call GM and have them contact your dealer.

Isn't AAMCO a warranty shop for tranny's? I thought I heard that some time ago. (or maybe I was smokin' crack).

I would check the "lemon law" for your state. You can look up the regs for any state on the internet. After the same problem occurs within a certain period, they have to pony up for something new I think.

Well I got my truck back from the dealer and they have seem to have fixed it . Before I droped it off at the dealer this last time I drop GM a email telling how I felt about the whole deal with the tranny. GM called me back by the time I got back From the dealer. The customer service rep said he would call the dealer and get back to me. About 2 hours after that phone call the dealer called me and told me the truck was all better ( replace a pressure control seleniod). They also said that GM had contacted them . The dealers service rep was being very nice for a change. So I get a call today from GM and customer service rep to me that he was going to give me a componet warrenty on the tranny that would last3 more years or 50k miles which ever came first. So I have a little more faith in GM again . Here is the link for the gm customer service .gm customer service .They were very helpful
