tired of dirty truck...

Well I'm tired of always having a dirty truck. No matter if it's just a sprinkle out, one little puddle on the road, my truck gets covered. I'm thinking I need some fender flares. My tires stick out about 3" wider than the fenders, now I'm trying to think about what I want. Bushwacker makes a "pocket style" fender for my truck, a little over 3" wide, and Xenon makes a 3" wide sport flare. Are there any others out there that make fender flares? Do I really need a 3" wide flare or will a 1-2" make that much of a difference? Just wondering if anyone has these flares or has any other ideas? Thanks, Chris

You will pretty much need flares as wide or wider than your tires. With narrower flares, you'll still get lots of splash on the lower body panels behind the wheel wells. That means also, as surely you already know, that you'll continue to get chips and dings in the paint as well.

Some folks don't like the looks of really wide flares. I think that the various molded, rigid ones are ok, but those older style 'lipped' rubber ones are awful, IMHO. They turn a nice looking truck into something that looks like a bad old Jeep Wrangler.

I think the Bushwacker is a good product. The others probably are too, but I have Bushwacker's on my ride, so they're the only brand I have any experience with. Since I'm running stock-size tires, I was able to use the narrower-style Bushwacker, called the 'Street Flare,' and they helped reduce splash and dirt a lot.

The only option if you want to avoid wide flares is to go with a narrower flare, but then add splash guards behind them. Husky and a few other companies make good splash guards.

IMO, nothing looks quite right on that body style except for the stock style flares. Bushwhacker makes a set that doesn't require drilling and look exactly like the stock ones.
