Gibson Elite cat back system

Recommended Posts

All,

I'm looking into adding a cat back system, and know that there's about a gazillion out there... One that I thought looked cool, and might weather the snow, ice and salt better is the Gibson Elite. I know that they have a system that fits the 04 Yukon. Just wanted any thoughts on that or any other system...

Thanks,

I have Gibson on my truck and I don't like it at all.

My 6.0 resonates in the cabin at about 45 mph. and

drives me nuts. Soon I will be going back to stock

muffler.

I'd never heard of the Gibson Elite systems, but it looks like one hellofa product actually. Ceramic coating is prolly your best bet when it comes to durability.

In my opinion, I wouldn't go Gibson, just since I don't like the sound their mufflers produce, but hey, everyone has their own tastes.

I do see you live in CO, so I'm guessing you have a lot of salt on the roads, which is where the ceramic coating would be a HUGE advantage. It does look extremely pricey though, so don't think you can't consider other systems. Magnaflow makes a hellofa stainless cat-back, Borla does too, although kinda pricey. Flowmasters are a great system too, but aluminized miiiight be a little bit on the downside for you. However, you CAN order their 40 series aand 50 series Delta Flow models in stainless steel, which I think brings Flowmasters right up the llist again

Eventually, they plan on having their ful line available in stainless, which in the long run is well worth the money!

Also, the system you choose ALWAYS depends on what you're looking for as far as sound and performance. Here's a few questions to consider when choosing your exhaust:

Do you tow a trailer? Do you have kids? Is interior sound/drone an issue? Are you looking mainly for sound, or performance along with sound? Do you want a long-lasting exhaust, while not making a big divot in your pocketbook? I could go on and on lol

All these factors come down to level out a few select systems that fit your budget and preference of exhaust. If you'd like to answer these questions, I'd be more than happy to find you an exhaust set-up you won't be dissapointed with! :seeya:

Hope I helped!

Take it for what it is worth. My truck has Gibson headers and their Extreme Dual Catback exhaust w/side discharge. My experience with this system is that it is very quiet, not loud unless you put your foot into it, and no exhaust noise enters the cab. Not sure if that is because of the side discharge or what, but people that have ridden with me are amazed how quiet it is on the highway. Give them a go. And by the way, I hardly ever keep my foot out of it!

I have the Super Truck. They are a little loud. But they do not sound like everyone elses  ! As you can tell by the profile, I live in SC. I think many of the dualled out trucks sound a little too tinny and common. They take a little getting use to. When the exhaust gases are still cold, it is a little louder. But still not that bad.

Lotsa: How do you like the Gibson headers? Did you do the install yourself?
