Stupid Email SPAM

I'm getting 15-20 emails a day that are junk. They are about home mortgages/viagra/dating/cable filters etc...

They aren't even showing my name in the address...

I've got to stop this crap!!!

I forwarded a bunch of them to my cable ISP, and they got pissed at me and said they could do nothing...

I blocked them from my email list... it didn't help!!!

The only thing I didn't do was click on the "stop sending" button, because I read that this could just confirm an email address and things will get worse...

Any ideas???

looks like the automated bots scanned your email addy it the bottom of your sig. Might want to follow Frank and put shaners(nospam)@gm-trucks.com, and that should stop many new ones from coming

As for the blocking, is there a way to just put @whatevertheheckgoeshere.com in instead of just a personal address?

What I mean is just put the domain in the blocked senders list, I dunno if that will help any, but unless you have your email running through outlook or outlook express, or some other desktop email client, I doubt there's much you can do with any sort of spam blocker..

This stuff isn't coming from GM-Trucks... All my emails were forwarded from this site to my personal addy so no-one could get my home email. We had a problem with this awhile ago, and Zane stopped all forwards, so I doubt you could get ahold of me by any other means other than a PM.

Not to make light of your situation but if you figure out a fool proof way to stop spam....you'll be a rich man. I use yahoo for my email, and they do a good job of putting spam in my "bulk" folder. That keeps them out of my inbox. I usually get about 100 a day.

I have Yahoo and I get all the crap you're getting. It sucks. And the Spam blocker they have doesn't seem to work at all.

really.....mine works great. I maybe get 1 or 2 spam emails a week into my inbox...the rest are all directed to my bulk folder automatically. I empty it once a day.

Well... It spreads.....

I'm now getting SPAM AIMs these days. I could care less about the emails cause it's nothing for me to delete them... but the AIMs just pop up on ya wile you're surfing.

Which would be more satisfying? Getting a huge reward $$$ for putting a complete and total end to spam? Or Getting $$$ reward for killing the guy who started it?

it'd be most rewarding to get a huge reward $$$ for putting a complete and total end to spam, THEN get the reward $$$ for killing the guy who started it. Then you get double the money and everyone is happy!

From Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon, I got 64 junk emails. From Sunday until 5:25 AM Monday, I got 16 more...

I've had Hotmail for about 4 years now, and since 2001, I have yet to get a spam email (knock on wood). All I did was block the sender(s) from my account, and viola, no more spam. And I got the same kinds of things that you're getting, Shaners. Don't know what else to tell you except good luck.

Well, looky there.... this is my 1,000th post. :flag:

I don't know if it helps, but I've got SBC Yahoo DSL, so I just click the message box and hit "SPAM" and after about 3-4 days the spamming really slows down. Only other solution I can think of is to run a firewall

I use the Spam button on a daily basis and mine never seems to slow down.

I'm noticed on my AOHell account that when I hit the report as spam button, that the crap really has thinned out. Used to be that if I checked my email after a 4 day stretch, I'd have about 30 emails, 2 of while were real.

The only real way to keep spam at a minimum is to block all cookies on every website and change your email addy every 6 months :puke:

I have Norton Internet Security and it will block my email addy from being sent out, BUT I get annoying pop-ups from Norton telling me my addy is trying to be sent, I'm not sure what is worse

hot mail does pretty good, about 4 spams a week slip hrough, the rest go to the properlly named "junk folder".

still if someone sends me an e-mail and isn't specific in the subject line, it goes to the junk folder too
