TB governor?

Does anyone know if the TB have a governor or a torque management system built into the computer?!? I am looking to do some mods to my TB and was wondering if any mods I made would be worthless if the TB has some sort of governor built-in. If it does, would a chip, like a Jet chip, override these settings or how would I override or modify these settings? Thanks for your help!

Most, if not all, new vehicles have a top-speed limiter and a rev limiter which require aftermarket reprogrammers to eliminate/modify. The computer also imposes a LOT of torque management that can only be modified or removed by aftermarket programming.

Thanks! That's what I figured... do you know if the Jet chip will override these settings??? I have yet to find a programmer out there for the TB 4.2L, just a chip from Jet. If anyone knows of any, please let me know. Thanks.

I don't have any experience with the JET chip, so this is only speculation on my part. As I understand it, after installation the chip 'observes' the engine's performance for a period of time to 'learn' it's performance thresholds. Then, it changes the data/commands from the PCM to the engine to boost performance by remapping air/fuel mix, timing, etc.

My guess is that it will not change the speed/rev limiters or the shift points but, again, I am only guessing.

For what it's worth, I have a JET shift kit in my ZR2 and have talked with their tech support group once or twice. If you give them a call, they'll be able to clarify for you exactly what the chip will do.
