Hearing a Jarring Shudder Sound going over bumps

Seems to be coming from the Passenger side. If I hit small bumps or sharp bumps I occasionally hear this jarring sound like BDDDDDDDDDDDDT.. Almost like the passenger rear wheel is getting jarred..

But then I get the same sound but the bump was not enough to do that to the wheel.. I am wondering if I have something loose in the exhaust....?

Also when Idling I get an exhaust resonance..too. Related???

Ironically these came after a 10 mile trek down a really bumpy dirt road to a camping site...

I thought my bottom was going to fall out...

bushings getting worn in the rear spring hanger brackets? mine makes noise like that and i thought it was worn shocks and bushings... not bothering me too much, but it does it on a ten year old truck......

It's a 2001 with 50K miles

I thought I was the only one with that sound coming over bumps and freeze strips. I like the suggestion about the bushings. I think I will put my 99 Sierra (60K miles) up on a rack and see how all the bushing look

I also thought it might be from the installation of the westin nerf bars on the side which mount using the frame bolts.

Sounds like a good Memorial Day Weekend experiment

Well, after 300 miles today through Ohio and Kentucky, i think i have narrowed at least some of the jarring noise. On bridge joints, as an example, i got a bunch of noise from the back of the back seat (I have extended cab). A towel wedged between the seat and back wall of cab stopped at least some of the noise. Also, I believe, but have not proven yet that the extended cab door on the right side is causing some rattle. It may be anything from hinge adjustment to the compression of the rubber weatherstripping on the 5 year old truck.

I am going to be doing another trip later this week so I will do some adjustments on the pass doors before to see how much of the noise goes away.

I still think, however that at least part of the problem is bushings and/or shocks

I have 62000 miles on the 99 Sierra ECSB

Some of my noise was the 3rd row seats folded in the down position.. they vibrate when you hit bumps..

Still have the noise.. but it's quieter now..
