Why do you like your truck?

I like mine because...

- it runs

- it is reasonably efficient

- the manual is fun to drive

- the 4 cyl is reliable

- it is one of the few Ranger XLs that isn't white

- it is one of only a handful of 2001 2.5L Rangers

- the vinyl bench seat is easy to clean

- the interior reminds me of our 1986 Ranger

- it looks good to me

- though it takes a lot of my money, it can also make me more

- it has more "personality" than the other Ranger (manual and ancient engine design are probably why)

- the radio picks up 106.1 classic rock and 92.3 classic rock

- the radio works

- no need for floor mats

- it gives my left foot something to do other than sit there

- I can keep a suprising amount of stuff behind the seat

- the oil filter is easy to get to

- mud hardly slows it down

- nobody is going to break in to steal the am/fm radio (unless they are an idiot)

- the manual trans has made me a better driver

- it's my hobby

- it takes me places

- there really isn't much to break on the interior

- it doesn't make any strange engine noises like the other Ranger used to or my dad's hybrid does

- it's not slow

- Ford Motor Co. was its first owner for a couple of years, so it was probably well cared for

- the seat is more comfortable than it looks

- it has 50K miles and no problems to speak of

- the A/C works well

- it will lay rubber

- a turbo from a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe is compatible with its engine

-It runs, and runs good.

-Looks good when clean.

-Has personality, you can tell it's mine.

-Comfortable to drive long distances.

-Lots of creature comforts

-It's a V8 and a diesel.

-Is capable of pulling/hauling more than anything I could give it. I know I bought too much truck, but that's better than not enough truck.

-Tows my car trailer like a matchbox car And gets 12-13 mpg while doing it.

-Is a great everyday driver.

-Rides quiet.

-Rides smooth enough for me.

-Gets 18-22 MPG while unloaded.

-Diesel is alot cheaper than gas right now.

-Has 4x4, which is great because my town SUCKS at plowing during the winter.

-As with any pick-up truck, it's practical. I can run up a bill at Home Depot, take my large purchases and just put them right in the bed. No haggling to get stuff crammed into a trunk. Can't imagine what that's like, I've always had pick-up trucks.

-Has an 8 foot bed, which is nice for hauling plywood. "I have an 8 foot bed that never has to be made."

-......and a cargo light gives off a romantic glow......there's something women like about a pick-up man.

I like mine b/c:

Sounds better than any other truck I've ever HEARD(<<disclaimer). everyone who's heard it says its a beatiful sound, not raspy at all, just strong and smooth.

and leave tire marks as I please

The truck is just plain mean on the road, you can scare other drivers to into letting you own the road

got a lot of looks.

when cleaned up, I even cought a Porcshe (968????) owner staring at it

EVERYONE liked it. even people who hated Chevy would come up to me and tell me it was a nice, clean truck(happened when I worked at the lube shop)

Could load it down with 1200# + of soda and it'd still scoot fine

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
    • I’m praying that someone sees this and can help me out… pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain, and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires.
