I took the Hypertech tuning out of our Yukon today and went to reinstall it in the truck and it would not work. When I plugged the hypertech in and pushed the start button the two lights lit up and then went right back off.

Whats the deal? :flag:

Once I saw that the hypertech would not work in the Truck, and went back to the yukon and the hypertech worked just fine. Thats why i think my problem lies somewhere in the Truck... :flag:

If I'm not mistaken, the Hypertech is VIN locked. Once you use it on a specific vehicle, it will not work on any other.

2001 HD is correct. The HPP is only good for one vehicle at a time. When you download the power tuning to your vehicle, the HPP stores the stock settings from the vehicle so you can't use it on another. I know, I have one sitting in the garage that I can't use. Loaded the power program into my Z-28 and forgot to remove it when I sold it. Now I have a $350 paperweight.

Did they do that on Hypertech? I thought that if you put the stock program back into the vehicle you would be able to use the Hypertech on another vehicle. (As long as the Hypertech part number is good for the second vehicle, ie: same year and engine or in some cases the range of years and engines)

I didn't think that Hypertech vin matched it so you would only be able to use it on one vehicle, yes one vehicle AT A TIME is correct. If that is the case, then people on E-bay selling theirs would not be able to even if they put the hypertech program back into the Hypertech unit.

So I think that your problem is the Hypertech part number is not compatable with the other truck, or you didn't get the tuned program out of the Yukon.

At any rate Hypertech's Tech number is 901-382-8888. I called them the other day to inquire on a different question. (Tire sizes)

Yes that is correct that you can only use the Hypertech on one vehicle at a time, but I bought this programmer used and have swapped it back and forth between the Yukon and Truck many times.

I found that my problem was with a blown fuse...
