I would say that comment was debatable also. We all have our opinions.

 

I personally like the K&N FIPKII. If maintained properly it should not cause any problems. I've been running one for over 100K on my current truck and clean it about every 20K. I think the improvement in throttle response (and there is definitely an improvement) has as much to do with the intake tube as the cone filter. I would not only replace the filter with that kit as I don't think the filter alone really provides much benefit beyond washability and never wears out. I think an intake kit AND an exhaust opens both ends nicely

I love it man, the install took about 45 minutes and included everything but 3 screws. The fit was perfect.

I gained .5 mpg and there was a noticable performance increase.

I spent under $60 and got a heck of a lot.

Go for it, get one, dont waste your money on K&N or any of the others.

I have that kit. No issues. Much cheaper than the overpriced K&N or similar kits. The air filter is not the best quality, but I figure I can get a K&N cone filter later (~$30) and still be way under the cost of the high-end kits. I did clean and oil the air filter last week and it seems fine.
