Help with alarm/remote start please

:D

Here is the deal. Just got a AST alarm/remote start put in the '02 GMC and now it is acting strange. I took it back to make sure the hooked up the right wires and they checked them.

Here is what happens.....Alarm works well, but when I use the remote start I will get the old "Engine Service Soon" light to trigger. I got the codes read and I am getting a couple of failures in the tranny. The failure is causeing the tranny to go to default mode (starts off in second gear  ). The codes have been reset a couple of times but keep coming back. My guess is that something is not hooked up right with the darn remote start.

Anyone around here have any ideas or have seen this before?

Thanks in advance

Crisis solved. It was a matter of too many cooks in the kitchen. The pins on the alarm unit were not set correctly but the person that did the install let someone else set the pins. Since he held the unit upside down while setting everything up, it was not set right. The installer did not go back and check the other person's work. Only took three trips to the shop and 4 trips to the dealer to keep resetting the "check engine light" but it seems all is well on the western front now. Now the system is finally complete since I have an alarm to protect all the electronics in the truck. :D:thumbs::cheers:

I hope you didn't have to pay to get the BCM codes reset.

Hehe.....yeah.....especially since we made 5 trips to the dealer to get the codes reset. Its a small town and everyone pretty much knows each other so all it took was a trip down the the GMC dealership to get the equipment hooked up and the codes reset, no charge. Also learned that when you disconnect the battery there is a good chance you will trip the check engine light since there is a power (and therefore communication) interuption.
