Software to read and log computer data

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this site, I recently bought a 2004 Silverado RCSB 5.3 2WD truck. I would like to know who makes software and the computer cable so I can read the computer output, error codes, and data log performance with my laptop computer?

Thanks

AutoTap will probably do what you are looking for. There are other ones out there too. Check out TByrne's page in the prefered vendors section the the left.....he sells it and his website has a pretty good descripiton of everything it does.

Sounds good... Have any of you guys used this software before? Do you think I would need the Enhanced GM parameters? I'm thinking that I do... Thanks

I have AutoEnginuity's scantool on my Dell Pocket PC and I really like it. Lots of logging options, but I still wish I had all the enhanced sensor capability, but I just didn't want to fork out the extra $$$. I think their site is www.autoenginuity.com...

That's pretty cool, thanks for the link. I was thinking about getting the HPTuner for my LS1 '70 Corvette for its scanning tool and tuner in one. This AutoInginuity program is interesting as an alternative to AutoTap, but at $330 for the basic software plus the GM specific sensors, HPTuners isn't that much more for a full-blown tuner. I'd consider buying the AutoInginuity scanner if it were under $150 for everything. The cool thing about HPTuner is that you can scan any vehicle and you can tune any vehicle that is the same year and type as yours. LS1Edit is locked to your particular VIN so can only be used on your one vehicle. With the HPTuner, if you bought it for a 2000 Silverado, you could tune any 2000 Silverado that you wanted.

Yeah, autoenginuity's stuff is pretty dang pricey. I bought the Pocket PC and the autoenginuity setup as a package from a guy here on the site, so I didn't actually order it through them. They have some pretty deep discounts on ebay too for their packages sometimes...

The more I read about the HPTuners stuff, the more I like the sound of that. If I didn't already have a Wester's tune, I probably go ahead and get their basic setup.

I'm just glad there are enough companies out there to at least make some competition for this type of thing. :banghead:

Exactly... A few years ago Carputing (LT1Edit/LS1Edit) were the only game in town. Now with all of these other companies getting into it, the consumers finally win.
